Bacillus anthracis produces a tripartite exotoxin, which is regulated by AtxA. Sodmn is constitutively expressed during invasion. Crp/Fnr family transcriptional regulators are known to bind promoters of toxin regulators as well as constitutively expressed genes during pathogenesis. B. anthracis fnr gene was cloned, over-expressed in E. coli and recombinant protein was purified. Oligomeric nature of recombinant rFnr protein was studied by diamide treatment and DTT reduction. DNA binding of rFnr protein was studied by EMSA. We observed that rFnr exists in both monomeric and oligomeric forms.
