background: The rise in Plasmodium falciparum resistance to dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine (DHA-PPQ) treatment has been documented in the Greater Mekong Subregion with associations with mutations in the P. falciparum chloroquine resistance transporter (pfcrt) and plasmepsin 2 (pfpm2) genes.
