Adjuvants that contain pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) can enhance vaccination efficacy by binding to pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), thereby stimulating immune responses. Particularly effective may be the combination of multiple PAMPs that activate different PRRs, which occurs with natural pathogens.
