Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is responsible for a large proportion of acute lower respiratory tract infections, specifically in children. Pneumonia virus of mice (PVM) causes similar lung pathology and clinical disease in rodents, and is therefore an appropriate model of RSV infection.
